This year’s edible flower craze allows us to explore the dynamic shapes, colours, and textures of these beautiful blooms in a whole way: by cooking with them! I recently worked with Amy Milligan to create illustrations that explore this fun new craze.
In the illustration above, I developed a celebration of edible flowers like hibiscus, roses, nasturiums, mint, and more. We imagined this work for a forward thinking cookbook project or fun package design.
I wanted explore the dynamic forms and colours of edible flowers that would excite any diner and envision this work as a spread for any cool cookin’ publication like Bon Appétit.
Here you can see a few line drawings that showcase the process of cooking with edible flowers, from picking to preparing to presenting.
These could be used as spot illustrations or for instructional use.
Last but not least, make it pretty.
